ZSIC General Insurance Managing Director, Mr. Trevor .Jengajenga, has visited the Company’s Chingola Branch as part of ongoing engagements aimed at strengthening performance, compliance and customer service delivery.

During the visit, Mr. Jengajenga interacted with staff and received a performance brief from Area Manager, Mr. Dan Nkonde. 

In his update, Mr. Nkonde indicated that despite a few operational challenges, the branch continues to receive strong business support and has successfully settled most claims, with only a few outstanding.

Mr. Jengajenga acknowledged the temporary invasion of the branch’s trading space by traders, which has arisen due to ongoing works at the nearby market. 

He expressed understanding of the situation and assured the team of management’s awareness as efforts continue to maintain smooth operations under the prevailing circumstances.

The Managing Director further emphasized management’s commitment to operating fully within the new regulatory guidelines issued by the Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA), noting that compliance will be upheld across the entire branch network. 

He urged the team to remain customer-focused and to deliberately grow the branch portfolio in 2026 by responding effectively to client needs.

Commenting on the visit, Mr. Jengajenga said, “Our priority is to ensure that every branch operates in full compliance with regulatory requirements while delivering reliable and responsive service to our clients. Chingola has strong potential, and management expects deliberate efforts towards portfolio growth in 2026.”

ZSIC GENERAL INSURANCE MANAGING DIRECTOR TREVOR JENGAJENGA AT THE CHINGOLA BRANCH

ZSIC General Insurance Managing Director Trevor Jengajenga wound up his two day visit to the Copperbelt with a tour of the Mufulira Area Office.

Mr. Jengajenga has reaffirmed management’s expectations for accelerated growth and innovation.

During the visit, the Managing Director noted that while the office is performing relatively well, there remains strong potential to further expand the business. 

He challenged the team to adopt more innovative and proactive approaches to increase insurance sales, encouraging them to explore new channels and creative ways of growing the existing portfolio. 

Mr. Jengajenga emphasized the need to tap into opportunities in the mining sector by strengthening corporate business and staff insurance schemes, given Mufulira’s strategic importance as a mining zone.

He also underscored the importance of strict compliance with the new regulatory requirements, stressing that adherence to evolving industry regulations remains a critical pillar of the Company’s operations and long-term sustainability.

In his update on the branch’s operations, Mufulira Area Manager Mr. Bowasi Zambi, said the office is actively pursuing new business opportunities and remains focused on growing its market presence. 

He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver on its mandate with continued support from management and highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance brand visibility in the area.

Mr. Jengajenga in the company of Director Legal Aaron Tembo and Director Branch Operations Sydney Mwanza also interacted with clients and sales agents at the branch.

ZSIC GENERAL INSURANCE MD VISITS MUFULIRA AREA OFFICE, CALLS FOR AGGRESSIVE GROWTH AND INNOVATION

The ZSIC General Insurance management team led by Managing Director Trevor Jengajenga paid a courtesy visit to the Mufulira Municipal Council.

The team met with the Council Director – Legal, Ms. Deidre Nampungwe Chisenga, as part of ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts in the district.

During the meeting, Ms. Chisenga acknowledged the good business relationship between the Council and ZSIC General Insurance, noting that the local area office has been managing the Council’s insurance interests effectively. 

She further indicated that there is room to grow the partnership as the Council continues to implement development programmes.

ZSIC GI MD expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Mufulira Area Office, particularly in the handling of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) insured projects. 

He noted that the CDF presents additional opportunities for business growth and reaffirmed the Company’s readiness to support the Council’s expanding development initiatives.

He noted ZSIC General Insurance' commitment to strengthening partnerships with local authorities and other key stakeholders, in line with its mandate to provide reliable insurance solutions that support national development.

A VISIT TO THE MUFULIRA TOWN COUNCIL 

We successfully participated in the Mkushi District Agricultural and Commercial Show held from 6th to 7th June 2025. This event provided a valuable platform for community engagement, allowing us to address a wide range of inquiries and share insights on our insurance products and services.

A highlight of our participation was the meaningful interaction with numerous small-scale farmers, many of whom visited our stand to learn more about agricultural insurance. We provided particular support to those affected by recent drought conditions, offering guidance on coverage options and claims processes.

We were also pleased to engage with sponsors of small-scale farmers, such as Appolo Zambia, which supports farmers in the Luano District, south of Mkushi. These discussions underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting sustainable agriculture and risk management.

Our presence at the show was recognised with a Third Place Award in the Social Security and Insurance category, an achievement that reflects our ongoing commitment to serving Zambia’s farming communities.

The exhibition team was led by Mr. Patrick Mkuyamba, our Deputy Branch Operations Manager from the Kabwe Office. His in-depth knowledge of agricultural insurance, particularly in Weather Index Insurance and claims procedures, was instrumental in enriching our engagements.

The event was officiated by the Mkushi District Commissioner, who served as Guest of Honour, alongside the Council Secretary.

We thank the organisers and the local community for the opportunity to participate and look forward to continuing our support for agricultural development in the region.

ZSIC GI SCOOPS AWARD AT THE 2025 MKUSHI DISTRICT AGRICULTURE AND COMMERCIAL SHOW

Lusaka, 20.5.25 – ZSIC General Insurance Managing Director, Mr. Trevor Jengajenga, has expressed the company’s interest in fostering collaboration with the Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank (ZICB), as part of its broader rebranding and business revitalisation agenda.

Speaking during a courtesy call by ZICB Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ngenda Nyambe at Premium House, Mr. Jengajenga noted that the rebranding initiative is among several strategic measures aimed at sustaining profitability and market competitiveness.

“ZSIC General Insurance remains committed to declaring a dividend to the government through the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). We will continue to pursue strategic partnerships that support our ambition of remaining a strong player in the general insurance sector,” he said.

Mr. Jengajenga reaffirmed the company’s dedication to working closely with fellow IDC subsidiaries, including ZICB, to unlock synergies and enhance operational efficiency.

In response, Mr. Nyambe welcomed the prospect of collaboration, highlighting ZICB’s growing market presence and financial strength. He emphasised that the bank remains well-positioned to meet the financial needs of its expanding client base.

“ZICB is a competitive and profitable banking institution. With our expanded branch network, following the absorption of the liquidated Investrust Bank branches, we are well equipped to support institutions like ZSIC General, especially in facilitating claims payments and other financial transactions,” said Mr. Nyambe.

Both leaders expressed optimism about the potential impact of enhanced cooperation between their institutions in contributing to national development and improved service delivery within the financial services sector.

ZSIC GENERAL INSURANCE EYES STRATEGIC COLLABORATION WITH ZICB AMID REBRAND

Windhoek, 16th May 2025 — ZSIC General Insurance Limited has been appointed as the National Bureau responsible for coordinating a newly launched Business-to-Business (B2B) COMESA Yellow Card selling point in Namibia. This initiative marks a significant milestone in cross-border insurance facilitation under the COMESA Yellow Card Scheme.

The selling point, which will be operated by Askari Namibia in partnership with the Automobile Association of Namibia, aims to improve access to third-party motor insurance for travelers within the COMESA region.

Speaking at the launch event held in Windhoek, ZSIC General Insurance Managing Director Trevor Jengajenga expressed confidence in the initiative’s potential to strengthen regional cooperation.

“This development not only enhances service delivery but also promotes regional integration. The revenue generated will support the insurance industry and contribute to the broader economic growth of both Namibia and fellow COMESA member states,” said Mr. Jengajenga.

Namibia’s Executive Director in the Ministry of Transport, Titus Ndove, highlighted the Yellow Card’s value, describing it as a “critical tool” for promoting intra-African trade and providing long-awaited insurance services to the Namibian travelling public.

Askari Namibia CEO Garry Wild noted that this is the second such selling point in the region, following the establishment of a similar facility in South Africa. He emphasized that the B2B platform would streamline access to third-party insurance through designated outlets managed by the Automobile Association of Namibia.

“We will embark on an awareness campaign to ensure widespread understanding of the COMESA Yellow Card’s benefits and availability,” said Mr. Wild.

The COMESA Yellow Card Scheme is a regional third-party motor insurance program that facilitates the seamless movement of vehicles across member states by providing uniform insurance coverage.

ZSIC GENERAL TO COORDINATE COMESA YELLOW CARD IN NAMIBIA

To celebrate Women’s Month, we honoured long-serving female clients across the country with assorted rewards. For years, many of our female clients have chosen ZSIC General as their trusted insurance partner. Their loyalty is a testament to the reliability and quality of our services. We are proud to have earned their trust, and we remain committed to continuing this partnership by offering innovative products that meet their evolving needs.

31 female clients who have been with ZSIC General Insurance for a minimum of 10 years were selected for the rewards with the longest being a policy holder for 30 years!

Some of the recipients who have been with ZSIC General Insurance for a period between 21 and 30 years include Agness Popovic, Mary Phiri Wulf, Agness Newa, Clare Scutt, and Mrs. Elke Lukama all from Lusaka.

For the period between 15 and 20 years, recipients included Pamela Hannay from Mkushi, Ingrid Jordan, Esnelly Mbewe and Joyce Mawele from Chirundu.

Those in the 10-year range included Bridget Habankji from Choma, Agness Phiri from Chipata, Lavizaria Musakanya from Kitwe, Patricia Siachifuwe from Mazabuka and Juliet Namunyola from Kasama.

ZSIC GENERAL INSURANCE APPRECIATES LOYAL FEMALE CLIENTS

ZSIC General Insurance successfully took part in the 2024 Financial Literacy week with three tertiary outreach interactions in Livingstone, Mpongwe and Lusaka.

During this year’s Financial Literacy Week, we premised our interactions on the importance of Agriculture Insurance in the wake of climate change. 

Through the sessions, our teams outlined the various agriculture insurance products available that can cover crops, livestock and equipment. Some of the Participants were particularly intrigued by the utilisation of satellite technology to assess losses incurred in vast lands. 

In Mpongwe, the Ndola office led my Branch Operations Manager Leonard Militu held an interactive session at the Mpongwe School of Agriculture in Ndola rural.

In Lusaka, Deputy Director Marketing Kuda Ngoma led the team at the Cooperative College in Lusaka which had the biggest audience of not less than 50 participants.

The Livingstone session held at the NIPA Livingstone campus was led by Communications and Customer Experience Officer Pennipher Sikainda-Nyirenda in the company of Agriculture insurance specialist Henry Madabwali from the Choma branch and Paul Chibuchabu from the Livingstone office.

Apart from the physical interactive sessions, we also used our social media platforms to share agriculture insurance sensitisation messaging.

2024 FINANCIAL LITERACY WEEK IN 3 TOWNS!

We recently held a consultative workshop on the Sustainable Agriculture Financing Facility (SAFF) in collaboration with technical advisors Pula and members of the insurance consortium. 

SAFF is a project under the Ministry of Agriculture and supported by the Zambia Credit Guarantee Scheme (ZCGS). It provides access to funds and other essential financial resources such as insurance to more than 23,000 small scale farmers countrywide. Under SAFF, beneficiaries have been provided with Weather Index insurance offering comprehensive cover for their maize crops. 

Deputy Director Marketing Kuda Ngoma officiated the workshop which drew participation from the Ministry of Agriculture Zambia Credit Guarantee Scheme, the banking sector, and the insurance consortium.

INCLUSIVE INSURANCE - SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE FINANCING FACILITY (SAFF) WORKSHOP

ZSIC General Insurance scooped first place in the Best Insurance Exhibit Award at the 2024 Agriculture and Commercial Show.

The annual exhibition was held from 31st July to 5th August 2024 under the theme: “Creating a Competitive Future” at the Showgrounds in Lusaka.

The ZSIC General Insurance exhibition demonstrated efforts being made to serve clients effectively. This has been made possible through collaborations and innovations in our general insurance product development and service delivery. 

A key highlight was the significant number of farmers covered in various Agriculture insurance schemes across the country. ZSIC General Insurance prides itself in being the top agriculture insurance provider in Zambia with over 260,000 small and commercial farmers covered against drought, floods, fires and other disasters. We remain committed to supporting agriculture and commercial activities in Zambia.

ZSIC GENERAL INSURANCE WINS BEST INSURANCE EXHIBIT AWARD AT 96TH LUSAKA AGRICULTURE AND COMMERCIAL SHOW!

ZSIC General Insurance scooped two awards at the 94 th Agriculture and Commercial Show held in Lusaka from July 27 th to 1st August 2022. The Show was held under the theme “Innovation through Technology – Technology Transforms Businesses”.

Our exhibition and theme interpretation earned us two awards. We were awarded 2 nd prize in the Best Insurance Exhibition with the top prize going to Workers

Compensation Fund. We were awarded 3 rd prize in the Best Non-Banking Financial

Institution where NAPSA and ZRA scooped first and second prize respectively.

We used the event to showcase technologically based innovations that we have

adopted in order to be provide a better customer experience for our customers.
