MTN Mobile Money Zambia has commended ZSIC General Insurance for maintaining its legacy as a trusted and reliable insurance partner.
MTN Mobile Money Chief Executive Officer Komba Malukutila expressed delight at the progress ZSIC General has made, noting the company’s strong performance marked by growth, profitability, and a sustained commitment to honouring claims.
Mr. Malukutila said MTN Mobile Money is keen to expand its partnership with ZSIC General Insurance by leveraging mobile platforms to enhance access to financial services for customers across the country.
He cited the successful disbursement of payments to farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) and the recently launched insurance platform as key areas that demonstrate the potential for deeper collaboration between the two institutions.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to ZSIC General Insurance Managing Director Trevor Jengajenga, the MTN delegation revealed that MTN Mobile Money processes transactions exceeding K26 million monthly, reflecting the growing adoption of mobile money services in Zambia.
In response, Mr. Jengajenga said the expansion of the partnership with MTN Mobile Money comes at a strategic time as ZSIC General Insurance is considering transitioning to a cashless payment system by the second quarter of 2026.
He further indicated that the company is exploring the introduction of micro-insurance products as part of efforts to broaden access to insurance services.
Mr. Jengajenga reaffirmed ZSIC General Insurance’s commitment to increasing claims payments and enhancing overall customer experience, adding that the company is also exploring the use of mobile money platforms for claims settlement.
